Natural therapies are nonsense says Australian Government.
I laugh as I write this, because I have been persuaded to put pen to paper finally, after many months of procrastination, on a topic that, well wasn’t what I thought would get me here. Obviously I am very passionate about it!
I absolutely want to share my knowledge and learnings to as many people as I can, as I believe education on what works for your wellbeing, is only becoming more important in today’s lifestyles and communities as each decade goes by. I promise although this post is politically loaded, I won’t be doing this often, as it really isn’t my style. So please don’t be put off and please come back to learn about my style.
So here in Australia, the government has decided that it will not be supporting certain natural therapies anymore and these will be removed from health insurers ability to offer rebates on these therapies. The government says these natural therapies will be removed as there is no clear evidence demonstrating the clinical effectiveness of such natural therapies. So if you a Naturopath, Herbalist, Homeopathy specialist and instructors of Yoga, Pilates and Shiatsu for preventative and remedial health, you are basically being told your therapy is nonsense.
Funny I think, when we know these therapies have been around for centuries prior to conventional medicine and pharmaceuticals, treating people perfectly well. The irony is these less obtrusive and more gentle methods of treatment are quite often what many people need, rather than having a heavy dose, zap or system change on the body. The human body is very responsive to gradual and nurturing change and more likely to come back stronger and with less relapses if treated this way. Chemotherapy is not conclusive as the best cure for Cancer in my mind, when its lifespan is only 7 years. How can that be called a cure? There are so many people who die at the 8 year, 9 year, point on wards. Perhaps they could have been introduced to the Gerson therapy as a natural treatment or even as another option. But then this is all wrong isn’t it, as natural ways don’t work and for cancer Chemotherapy is the only cure. Well according to the Australian Government it is. You can get taken to court if you don’t want this for your child you know.
Over the last couple of years, I have been studying the body, food, supplementation, habits, lifestyles, environment our thinking patterns and beliefs. To now feel comfortable when I hear and learn natural treatments by Functional and Integrative doctors and Nutritionists and Chiropractors, country specific health therapists, that these work and all have a place. That these different methods work for people in different communities with different stressors, toxins, climates, food availability and beliefs. That there is no one way that people should be coerced or manipulated into doing because a government promotes only one. I am not even going to talk about freedom of choice.
So I am building my Holistic health practice to met people where they are at, to understand where they are from, and to see what is going on in their current circumstances, to be able to take that next step. I consider that certain genes influence susceptibility, diet either harmonises or disrupts so many bodily systems and therefore organs, and that lifestyle and thought are like the trigger on a gun. You can be shot when you don’t pay attention to any of these and believe it is not your responsibility. Please start to take note and listen to your body. I am here to help on you beginning this journey.
