Liver care for glowing skin and plateauing weight loss
That skin rash is becoming redder and itchier, the weight just never wants to shift? How’s your liver? You don’t know? Being one of the most important detoxification organs in the body, we want to keep it running as well as water in a display fountain! No running water no display, get the picture 🤔
When working properly the liver clears bacteria and other toxins from the blood, so the blood can reenter for general circulation and carry all the nutrients we need.
However when the liver doesn’t cope things start to get a bit toxic inside. The liver starts to break down undesirable substances, ready to be eliminated from the body as quickly as possible. Although sometimes it may need to be broken down a couple of times if it was totally synthetic or a completely unknown substance and now the liver is struggling. Not only has the toxin been released into the body in another form, more harmful in some cases, it can also circulate around making us feel queasy until it is able to cycle through the Liver again for another go.
The liver’s second major focus involves creating and secreting bile. “What’s that you say”. Bile acts as the carrier of toxins, transporting them into the intestines and helping them become absorbed by fiber and then carried from the body. Phew toxin gone! So we want the Liver healthy to produce this bile.
The liver’s third role in detoxification involves the 2 phases enzymatic process for neutralising unwanted chemical compounds. Like your medications, i.e headache pills, allergy tablets, cortisol skin creams, and inflammation soothers, pesticides and toxins from the gut. But also normal body chemicals such as hormones and histamine that become toxic if allowed to build up. For every action of neutralisation your liver does it creates free radicals, and without free radical defenses the free radical can again damage the liver.
What you react to can show how your phase 1 and phase 2 are functioning and again we need both of them running well. So that skin flair, or stubborn weight can indeed point to the liver.
Being able to support your liver through diet and lifestyle is the way to go. Many would consider their phase 1 okay, but phase 2 really is the neutralizer going down several paths for this to happen. These noticeable events can indicate whether you need to take care – caffeine intolerance, reactions to sulphite food additives – think dried fruit. Garlic making you feel sick, perfumes and other chemicals make you feel sick, asthma type reactions.
The approach I always recommend to clients feeling slightly this way is to
✅Decrease exposure to toxins
✅Eat a diet that focuses on fresh fruit and vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds
✅Follow a healthy lifestyle, including avoiding alcohol, and exercising regularly
✅Using nutritional and herbal supplements to protect the liver and enhance its function
✅Going on a 3-7 day cleanse at the change of each season.
