Optional practices to turn your cleansing up a notch

Additional Practices

We know the body detoxes all of the time, although sometimes we may feel we need a boost, or sense that we can give the body a hand. Likewise when we have dedicated specific periods of time to cleanse the body we may feel like there is a specific area that we want to focus on.

Castor Oil Packs – Liver and Gallbladder

Is a fabulous tool to help reduce liver and gallbladder inflammation and soften the tissue in these organs. It will also stimulate the liver and unblock stagnant bile and bile ducts, while also opening your bowels to allow for easier elimination of bile sludge and toxins. Caster Oil is 90% ricinolecic acid and is a unique and potent immune booster that helps inhibit viral, bacterial, fungal, yeast or moulds. If not working with a health practioner 1 – 2 times a week for 25 mins maximum.

Detox Baths – Skin and Blood

Helps open and enlarge your pores, opening the pathway for sweat and whatever else is in the pores of your skin, your largest organ. A great tool for this is an Epsom salt bath. Epsom salt is a naturally occurring mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate that helps enhance the detoxification capabilities of the body, improve circulation, calm and sedates the nervous system, relax muscles, and reduce swelling and inflammation. Magnesium is easily absorbed through the skin and into your blood stream. A warm bath with magnesium sulfate helps balance your electrical charge or pH. Make the water as hot as you can tolerate and try to soak for at least 20mins, ideally 3 times weekly.

Hydrogen Water – Gut

Simply, hydrogen gas dissolved into water with no pH change. Hydrogen is a selective antioxidant that has been shown to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation. Immune Function 70% to 80% of the immune system is housed in your gut. Stress, poor diet, and pesticides weaken your gut to nearly 20% functionality. The electrical potential in Echo H2 Water™ repairs and restores the gut and improves food intolerances.

Oil Pulling – Microbiome

Many of the toxins within the body are interacting with our bacteria and influencing them for better or worse depending on your diet. And the place of bacteria residence that is most often misunderstood are the microbiome within the mouth. These bacteria are the signalling bacteria and influencers to many other bacteria within the body. There are studies now which link heart disease and stomach issues to the health of your mouth microbiome. As gut health and nutrition are not taught to those studying medicine and dentistry then you will never be told these practices and they continue to be harmful and out of date.

Fluoride is not only harmful to the mouth and gut microbiome, it is harmful to the brain too. Mouth wash is even worst with most brands having some kind of sugar in the product along with unfriendly chemicals to the mouth bacteria.

This is why the health of your mouth is essential too. Oil Pulling an ancient Ayurveda practice, works to gather up the bacteria and toxic outputs from your mouth, capturing these in the oil and removing them from your mouth.

All it takes is swishing ½ to 1 tablespoon of extra virgin coconut oil or sesame oil (unrefined) in your mouth. Complete this for 10 – 20mins (building up to) each day first thing in the morning. Try not to wash down the basin, as the oil can solidify and block pipes. Spit into tissue and dispose.

Journaling – Mindset

If you like the idea of mentally detoxing, it may be the perfect opportunity to releasing some negative thoughts and emotions. You may even take the opportunity to start a new practice in dumping all thoughts prior to bedtime, for greater sleep or starting the day with writing your fears and dreams and what you can do to resolve both of these. Even starting or ending the day with the practice of journaling your gratitude is a very therapeutic practice.
