Fasting is a bit radical, isn’t it? Going without food to feel better.
Actually it’s a very realistic and normal thing. You just haven’t realised this before or noticed when we naturally do this.
I say noticed as there are many times we fast in our lives, when we listen to the body;
- when you feel sick, you don’t feel that hungry right, so you refrain from eating
- you are really worried or stressed and it just doesn’t feel good to eat, so you don’t
- you are really tired, so you are just not hungry
- you do some duration of exercise and can wait a while before you need to eat
These are all responses to your physical, emotional and mental thoughts about what to do. These are typically unconscious as you are just not thinking too deeply about it, rather letting your body rule the decision.
The reason why I wanted to explore the topic of Fasting with you is I have felt fabulous from fasting, and have seen the outstanding benefits that it can provide to people. Be that healing the body, regenerating the body or even providing the strength to believe in yourself.
The reasons why you can choose to Fast are so multilayered and so deep with history and nature that I also believe it is something that everyone today in our modern world should now participate in. It is a time when we can give ourselves a real break, as we know that 70% of energy is used to digest after we eat, we are absorbing toxins that the body could do with expelling and we are getting communications to the brain that are toxic, usually from the gut.
Being such a fan of Fasting, I wanted to make sure you really understood this concept, and over the following days I’ll break this down more for you. But for now here are some of the benefits Fasting has shown to provide.

There are various different types of Fasting, which is great as you start out. It means you can use what is suitable for you, and progress to different stages as you become more comfortable.
Familiar Fasting categories as follows;
1. Intermittent fasting when you shorten the window of time you have to eat. Typically this refers to 16 hr, 18hr and 24hr timeframes of not eating.
2. Variation – During your week Intermittent fast 16, 18, 24hr or full fast for 1 day or 2. Short sequence of days or Long fast. You can decide what suits.
3. Dry Fasting – Without eating or drinking. Should not be done for long periods and should not be done without guidance.
The great thing is, the more often you do a fast the easier it becomes.
